Retired Two Channel Loudspeakers

Fibonacci Technologies Vaya! Ribbon Tower Monitor  (retired 2014)

A direct descendant of our Fibonacci 1.1 Gen 3.1 In-Wall transducers, Vaya! is build with a unique, diffraction-free oval cabinet that is a very comfortable 56 inches tall.

One would think that a transducer originally designed to reproduce human voice more accurately than any other loudspeaker in history may not make the ultimate two channel loudspeaker, but in fact the Fibonacci 1.1 Gen 3.1 transducer’s  astounding vocal accuracy lends itself to every other instrument as well.  Vaya! reproduces music with natural timing and liquidity and communicates a fluid sense of harmonic continuity that even the best conventional loudspeakers can not match.

Vaya! can be configured for Near Wall Specific placement, where the back, bottom of the cabinet is within one foot of the wall and the bottom spikes adjusted for optimum rake angle.  Near wall specific placement reduces the power requirement by a factor of four, as this placement takes maximum advantage of both upper bass boost and the Allision effect and offers the smoothest coupling to the room.

By flicking a switch on the rear of the speaker, it is reconfigured for free-field placement, optimally four feet out from the back wall and any other boundary, the classic two-channel configuration preferred by most audiophiles.

The unique, oval cabinet eliminates diffraction and early reflections that would normally occur with a loudspeaker with corners, resulting in much smoother frequency response, a larger sound stage and greater sound stage depth.  Vaya! can accomplish these things equally well placed closely to wall or in free field.

Vaya! requires a subwoofer, with the low pass crossover frequency set at 80Hz, and sounds best with a dedicated electronic crossover with a high pass set at 80Hz as well.

Vaya! cabinets can be custom built to order in any conceivable finish.  Typical hardwood finished (such as walnut shown above) are hand selected veneers with solid heartwood top and bottom.

VAYA! FREQUENCY RESPONSE CURVE

Above is the Vaya! Frequency response curve, measured at midpoint height of the ribbon, two meters from the front of the loudspeaker, which is in free field.  This measurement is taken with the protection circuitry in place but without bass management.  Frequency response extends from below 80Hz to beyond 20kHz, + 3dB.  Sensitivity is the equivalent of 90dB of 2.83V, 1m.

VAYA! IMPEDANCE CURVE

Above is the Vaya! input impedance curve, as seen by the amplifier.  Impedance minimums at 185Hz and 15kHz are 4.0 Ohms, impedance maximum at 1.1kHz is about 14 Ohms.  The rising impedance below 80Hz is evidence of the protection circuitry.  This is an extremely easy load for most modern amplifiers to drive.
